Ebola-Reston Virion Image
There are four separate strains of the Ebola virus, and of these, Reston ebolavirus (REBOV) is by far the least dangerous to humans, at least from what we know. Named after an outbreak in a laboratory in Reston, VA, it has so far only been found in non-human primates and pigs.
Despite its official classification as a Level-4 security organism (like all ebolaviridae), it did not infect exposed lab workers or other humans who came in contact with the infected animals. It’s structurally and genetically within the Ebola family, and potential mutations that could allow it to infect humans keep it under the highest security rating.
i’m in reston right now lol
The human version...worst things ever.
I thought ebola was filoviridae…. shit, wait that’s family, not genus, nevermind! =) This is my all-time favourite...
FUCK EBOLA IS MY FAVORITE VIRUS EVER
